Environment and Natural resources

Sequence Development Solutions has restored 6 hectares of a key biodiversity corridor in Kitoba Sub County, Hoima District, by planting indigenous tree species. SDS launched restoration activities along the Bwendero-Nyabinyonyi biodiversity corridor in response to community concerns over the sudden drying of indigenous trees and increased movement of primates threatening crops and children. The project focuses on replanting species such as MeliaMahoganyTerminaliaPrunus africana, and Grevillea to investigate the causes of previous tree loss which had assumptions of foliage discoloration, resinosis to mention but a few. SDS also envisions the restored area serving as a future carbon sink to offset pollution from the expanding Hoima Oil City and its growing industrial activities.

To promote socio-economic transformation, SDS has established a one-acre agroforestry demonstration site in Kitoba Sub County, Hoima District, featuring organic bananas (matooke) and organic coffee. The site serves as a training ground and will be expanded to other communities to promote sustainable agricultural practices in the Oil and Gas region.
